A Closer Look: Sweet Jane Ingredients

Sweet Jane Elderberry is made in small batches weekly and distributed that same week, as to always provide our customers the freshest elderberry syrup. We do not use any fillers, thickeners, or preservatives, and we take great pride in our all natural cooking process. Every ingredient that we use serves a purpose in helping to boost immune systems. In this short blog we take a closer look at the three spices that we use in brewing our elderberry syrup.

Organic Ginger Benefits

Ginger is considered a super food! Ginger has a long history of use in various forms of traditional and alternative medicine and is found in many households today as a cooking spice most often used for its flavor. But ginger also contains amazing health benefits.

A natural oil found in ginger, gingerol, suppresses fungal, viral and bacterial infections. It has anti-inflammatory compounds that make it very effective in treating a list of health problems from gingivitis, pneumonia, bronchitis and viruses that cause respiratory infection. Gingerol has antioxidant effects that may help reduce oxidative stress, which is the result of having an excess amount of free radicals in the body. Ginger is also well known of its aid in digestive health.

Organic Clove Benefits

High in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, cloves have been used in traditional medicine to strengthen immune systems, reduce inflammation and aid in digestion. According to nutrition data, just one teaspoon of clove contains the mineral manganese (important for bone health), vitamin K, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin E.

Clove oil is also well known for its anti-inflammatory properties and helps ease pain by stimulating pain receptors in the body. Clove oil provides relief from arthritis and inflammation and is a great source of fiber.

Organic Ceylon Cinnamon Benefits

Ceylon cinnamon, also known as “true” cinnamon, is commonly known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial effects, all properties that work together to boost your immune system. In a recent study that compared the antioxidant activity of 26 spices, cinnamon wound up the winner, even outranking superfoods like garlic and oregano.

Cinnamaldehyde, one of the main active components of cinnamon, may help fight various kinds of infections. Cinnamon oil has been shown to effectively treat respiratory infections and inhibit the growth of certain bacteria including listeria and salmonella.

Fighting bacterial infections, reducing inflammation, supporting the immune system and helping with digestion are just a few benefits of Ceylon Cinnamon.

The spice blend that is found in Sweet Jane Elderberry is what contributes not only to the “Christmas-like” taste of our syrup that people fall in love with, but also work together with the elderberries to make a powerful blend of immune support.
